Dear Carolina Community,

Today we are sharing information on the fall semester Carolina Together Testing Program, including the requirements, HallPass and vaccination status.

Fall Asymptomatic Testing Requirements

As we announced in May, vaccinated undergraduate, graduate and professional students will not be required to participate in asymptomatic testing through the Carolina Together Testing Program.

If you are unvaccinated, chose not to share your vaccination status or do not complete your COVID-19 Vaccination Certification in Connect Carolina (must be done by all enrolled students regardless of level of education or program) you are required to:

  1. test once a week at the Carolina Together Testing Center AND
  2. complete a test at the Carolina Together Testing Center within 24 hours of arriving on campus or in Chapel Hill

Failure to complete one or both of these requirements is a COVID-19 Community Standards violation and may result in discipline by the Office of Student Conduct.

If you are unvaccinated and have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 90 days, you will be exempted from the asymptomatic testing requirements for 90 days from your positive test result. Please send your test results to campushealth_records@unc.edu.

Free, voluntary asymptomatic testing will be available again this semester for vaccinated students and for all faculty and staff. It is important to note – if you are symptomatic or identified as a close contact to someone who has COVID-19, do not get tested at the Carolina Together Testing Center. If you are a student, symptomatic testing is available at Campus Health. If you are an employee, contact your healthcare provider to get tested.

In addition, students who upload the proof of vaccination will not be required to go into quarantine and isolation if they are identified as a close contact to a positive case.

Getting your COVID-19 Vaccine

Getting your COVID-19 vaccine and filling out the Vaccination Certification form on ConnectCarolina allows students to be removed from the required, asymptomatic testing. If you have not been vaccinated, you still have time to get the vaccine! You will be able to change your status on the certification form at any time.

Visit the Carolina Together Vaccine page to find information and locations of vaccination clinics. If you have concerns about the vaccine, UNC Health has a hub that addresses many questions about the vaccine, including important facts. If you have questions about the COVID-19 vaccine and your medical history, we encourage you to speak with a medical professional about your decision. Campus Health is offering free COVID-19 vaccine consultations for students. These are no-pressure conversations to listen to your concerns, answer your questions, and support you in making the best choice for you. Appointments can be made by calling 919-966-2281 or can be scheduled online at the Campus Health Appointments page and are offered both virtually and in person.

HallPass
We will continue to use HallPass to track appointments and results within the Carolina Together Testing Program. For those of you who are new to the program, HallPass is the mobile friendly, web-based application created by faculty and staff here at Carolina. You can watch this video explaining how the program works.

Once you have registered using your ONYEN with HallPass, your subsequent visits should be greatly expedited. If you have not already done so, please remember visit the HallPass website to pre-register and make a reservation for your testing appointment window.
