COVID-19 Update: Carolina Together Testing Program

Barcode labels being added to test samples.
Barcode labels being applied to sample collection vials at the UNC-CH COVID Surveillance Laboratory. The vials will be used in the collection kits that are also assembled at the lab. Samples are brought to this lab where they are run through a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) testing process to determine if the sample is positive or negative for COVID-19. Dear Carolina Community,

We have a brief update for today regarding the Carolina Together Testing Program. Since Jan. 11, we have conducted more than 66,000 tests. Our overall positivity rate is 0.6% and has been 0.14% over the past week. This decreasing positivity rate is truly a testament to the many members of our community working hard to adhere to our COVID-19 Community Standards and keep everyone around them safe.

We know that it can be hard to continue to be vigilant after 11 months in this pandemic, but please stick to it. Your actions make a difference, and we need everyone to continue to persevere while the vaccines are rolling out around the country. Keep wearing a mask, keep maintaining physical distance, keep washing our hands and keep getting tested often.

HallPass Updates

HallPass will have an update to the user terms and conditions next week. You will be sent email and text messages suggesting you log in HallPass and agree to the updated user terms and conditions before your next appointment. If you experience any issues, please logout and back into HallPass. We ask that you take a moment to do this before arriving for a testing appointment window to ensure the testing process remains streamlined and quick.

Wellness Day Testing

We hope that you were able to rest and recharge during the first set of Wellness Days. As a reminder, if you traveled during the long weekend, you should have tested immediately once you returned to Chapel Hill/Carrboro and once again in the next seven days. Please do not forget to test again this first week back, regardless of your group requirements, so any potential exposure to COVID-19 can be detected as soon as possible.
